Illumination of the Past
The collection of photos are taken under the rule: While I walk through China Town in the Hague, whenever I think of a photo I took in Taiwan, I take a related photo. Through this practice I dislocate and recollect my memories between my home and my new residency.
These photos were then turn into an installation. During the exhibition, the audience could participate in memory-making. They first enter a darkroom where they can pick up a photograph to bring into the projected sunset. The sunset consists of colors ranging from white, blue, orange to red; as the participants move their hands, the photographs shift in color, evoking nostalgic memories.
